The method of making furniture from Loom fabric is over 100 years old. These refined but incredibly solid, elegant and comfortable chairs are made from simple kraft paper. Paper, in fact, and not a basket, as Lloyd Loom is so often mistakenly labelled. Lloyd Loom was named after a process in which paper and steel wire are woven into a fabric on a loom. The inventor of this successful Lloyd Loom or "paper weave" furniture is the American entrepreneur Marshall Burns Lloyd.
In 1992, the Belgian company Vincent Sheppard decided to pick up the thread of this extraordinary tradition and craftsmanship. Vincent Sheppard created an ingenious collection that combined the classics with elegant innovation and transformed them into contemporary furniture.
One of the classic Loomchairs is an armchair with a rounded backrest and a thick seat cushion, you sink comfortably into your Loom armchair and are ready for a cosy evening or relaxed reading hours.
Loom chairs are also very suitable for the dining table. The paper weave is washable and the seat is comfortable. Unlike rattan chairs made from plant fibres, Loom wickerwork does not creak and cannot break, so it will not damage clothing.
In addition to the classic models, Vincent Sheppard has also brought out a very modern collection of Loom chairs and armchairs. Small seat shells in the latest trendy colours are attached to wooden or metal frames. There are also constant innovations in the colours of the Loom fabric, including the current trend colours silver and copper.
The bedroom can also be furnished in many different ways. Vincent Sheppard has beds, headboards and bedside tables in its range, which can be produced in all colours, just like the Loom chairs and sofas. Finally, the accessories section includes a range of storage boxes and side tables.
Some models from the Loom collection are also available as garden furniture under the name Vincents Garden. In these models, the wooden frame is replaced by a weather-resistant, lacquered aluminium frame and the kraft paper is replaced by weather-resistant polyethylene fabric. This means you can leave your Loom garden furniture outside in all weathers.
